Understand systems.
Connect knowledge.
Serve knowledge.

I am Mauro Iacono, Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli,” and an engineer. My work spans complex-systems modelling, digital technologies, education, and the institutions where knowledge becomes public responsibility.

A COMPASS

Technology does not exist
in isolation.

Understanding a system means looking at how it works, who uses it, and which institutions shape its consequences.

My research begins with quantitative models and computer engineering, then opens onto questions of trust, rights, organisation, and public policy. A long-term educational journey—from engineering and physics to political science, international relations, and management—supports this perspective.

Not a collection of separate disciplines, but a method: connecting tools and contexts to produce useful knowledge and more informed decisions.
